Tyowennatyerénhton: First Words is an introductory Kanyen’kéha (Mohawk) vocabulary book and photo book with English translations. Featuring photographs from the land, families, teachers and their students can learn numbers, colours, feelings, traditional foods and other aspects of the natural world, important to the Haudenosaunee.
There are three educator guides for teachers to bring this book into their classroom,
for early years (ages 0-6), grades K - 6, and grades 7-12.

Following a Three Sisters framework, this guide plants seeds that are meant to inspire learning, supports making connections to big ideas across multiple subject areas, and encourages educators to nurture their garden and adapt as needed.
