That feeling of being held by a community never fades. It’s in the small acts of support, the warm greetings, the stories retold. It’s a state of mind — this quiet pride in being from Point Anne. Time and again, people say the same thing, “I may not live there anymore, but Point Anne will always be home."

Tales & Tastes from the
Village of Point Anne

Tales and Tastes from the Village of Point Anne: Stories and Family Recipes from The Flat Rock and The Big Hill  chronicles the day-to-day family and community life in Point Anne, a once thriving company town on the shores of the Bay of Quinte. Filled with stories, recipes and photographs shared generously by over 60 past residents, and covering a span of 125 years, Tales and Tastes brings to life the special people, places, sounds and smells of those who called Point Anne home.

This book is for all ‘Point Anners’ and anyone fortunate to have been raised in a tight-knit, generous community.

To be released Spring 2026

"I was emotionally connected to the stories. It's easy reading, engaging, and even if you didn't grow up in Point Anne, there is something to relate to."

Praise for Tales & Tastes

"The authors have achieved something very rare in historical books: they present a comprehensive and pleasantly readable story of the village of Point Anne, brought to life by focussing on the daily experiences and emotional attachment of the people to their community. They capture the feelings of the tight-knit families, enjoying the boom years through particularly successful sports teams and extensive social activities but equally suffering the painful loss of the cement works and the resulting adjustments, also with that strong sense of community which has never faded over the years.”
