Professional Learning for Pre-Service and In-Service Educators

We were thrilled to offer a workshop to our teacher members presented by Gail and Dianne, based on their beautiful book Tyowennatyerénhton First Words. They shared knowledge that our members were able to take back and implement in their classrooms the very next day.
Many participants commented on how powerful it was to connect with language while moving forward on the path of reconciliation. The impact of this experience was deeply felt.
I highly recommend inviting Dianne and Gail to share their learning and expertise with other teachers’ unions or school boards.

Gail and Dianne have offered inspiring professional development to educators across the LDSB. Through eco-art, their book, and their thoughtful guidance, they have helped teachers meaningfully centre language revitalization and land-based learning in their classrooms. Their work supports educators in building connections to the land, honouring Indigenous knowledges, and creating learning experiences that are both creative and culturally grounded. Their contributions have made a lasting difference in how teachers engage students in learning that is authentic, respectful, and transformative.
